Karlito Almeda
Vice President
Karlito Almeda serves as Vice President with The Zita Group. He provides legislative and public affairs advice to a diverse array of clients. Karlito brings a wealth of experience, having navigated the complexities of New Jersey politics and policy for several years.
Karlito joins us from Advanced Energy United, a national clean energy business association. He worked as a senior policy principal and developed strategies to advance renewable energy policies across New Jersey and New York. His expertise spanned various areas, including distributed energy resources, building and transportation electrification, and carbon emission reductions.
Prior to this experience, Karlito served as a Policy Aide to Commissioners Bob Gordon and Dianne Solomon at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. In this role, Karlito led strategic review and analysis of New Jersey’s clean energy policies and the regulations of the state’s utilities.
For several years, starting in 2019, Karlito served as Legislative Director to then-Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen). Karlito managed several policy issues including transportation, healthcare, labor, school safety, and film tax credits. His notable achievements include negotiating landmark policies such as the Reproductive Freedom Act and sweeping sexual assault reforms.
At the beginning of his career, Karlito served as a congressional casework representative for Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D- NJ 9th District) where he managed and resolved constituent matters including veterans’ affairs, social security, and immigration.
His commitment to community service is evident through his appointment by his hometown Mayor and Council to serve on Mahwah’s local zoning board of adjustments. He currently serves on the Advisory Council for the Great Swamp Watershed Association, a non-profit organization that protects and improves the health of the Passaic River through science, education, land preservation, stewardship, and advocacy.
Karlito received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
