Case Studies

Helping Clients Raise their Profile and Build Relationships Across New Jersey

TZG client Newsela turned to TZG seeking to expand the use of their online curriculum platform to K-12 schools across the state. The TZG team worked diligently to contact school leaders from dozens of districts to make introductions for the company. TZG also connected Newsela with several educational organizations and advocacy groups to grow their brand recognition in the state. As a result of this outreach, Newsela was able to meet with school leaders to discuss their services and increase the number of New Jersey schools using their products.

TZG also assisted  EduCo, a company connecting international students to universities worldwide in expanding their network in New Jersey. Our firm introduced the EduCo team to several New Jerey college and university officials, allowing them to build partnerships and expand their client base in the Garden State. As a result, EduCo secured several contracts with New Jersey institutions of higher education to the benefit of both the students and the institutions.

Providing networking opportunities and Business Development Assistance

TZG provides business development assistance to The Mercadien Group, a NJ-based accounting and business consulting firm with expertise in a wide variety of service areas and industries.  TZG facilitates networking opportunities for company executives with state, county and local government officials.  TZG keeps the company abreast of ongoing state, county and local political developments which could impact current or forthcoming business opportunities. As a result of TZG’s work on behalf of The Mercadien Group, the company has been well-positioned for several business opportunities throughout New Jersey and has secured new public sector work at the state and local levels in the last several years.

Providing successful public sector procurement strategies

As the world’s leader in information solution products in both the public and private sectors, RELX wants a high level of insight in the area of public sector business development and contract maintenance.

LexisNexis, a subsidiary of RELX, publishes twenty-seven state administrative codes and registers in the U.S., and the company has been designated as the official publisher of administrative codes or registers in seven jurisdictions, including New Jersey. Given its extensive experience in this area, LexisNexis wanted to pursue a contract bid to publish the New Jersey Register on behalf of the state’s Office of Administrative Law.

TZG positioned LexisNexis with decision makers at the NJ Department of Treasury, the Governor’s Office and the Office of Administrative Law to inform them of the nuances of the New Jersey Register contract and how a properly-crafted RFP could bring about a more competitive state bidding process. Following TZG’s proactive, targeted outreach, LexisNexis won the right to publish the New Jersey Register and was re-awarded the contract in subsequent years.

Employing a multi-faceted regulatory affairs and strategic communications approach to advance industry reform regulations

The underlying factors impacting the cost of auto insurance are complex and New Jersey’s drivers pay the third-highest premiums in the nation. Legislators and regulators for decades have debated the issues that contribute to these costs, and in 2011, the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (NJDOBI) undertook efforts to revise the regulations that deal with some of the main cost-drivers of the auto insurance system.

As the leading advocacy group for the state’s largest auto insurers, the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) needed to be at the table in the development and negotiation of these regulations. Working in conjunction with other auto industry trade organizations on behalf of PCI, TZG met with representatives of NJDOBI, the governor’s office, legislative leadership and other legislators to convey the need for reform that ultimately stabilized insurance costs and maintain a healthy and robust insurance marketplace.

By the end of a 15-month effort, PCI was able to claim several important victories in the final adoption of auto insurance regulations in November 2012.
